As far as I know there's nobody raising alpacas around here, and any drum makers or glass blowers we might have are probably peddling their goods at the local tchotcke shops.

On the other hand, I have no doubt I could find a jury-appropriate plus-size suit within walking distance if I had to (if the local thrift shop didn't have anything, then The Covered Girl would).Amy Livingstonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16362533758291353748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6276531209730408101.post-88293543722562958742012-06-09T21:07:47.660-04:002012-06-09T21:07:47.660-04:00Super Munchkin, if you also bought the expansion, ...Super Munchkin, if you also bought the expansion, would run you close to $100, just for one game. I could easily spend $1,000 within walking distance of my office (downtown! real businesses!). Heck, considering there's a drum maker and a glass blower and a potter and an alpaca farmer at the market, I might-could spend it all there, even without buying meat. But there's a natural grocery, and a book store, and jewelry and things. Or I could drive a little and hit the local hiking/camping/etc. store and stock up on.. hrm, I need a new rain-resistant windbreaker thingie... OH! And we have a non-chain art supply store. And yarn store. Yeah, I could probably blow $1,000 in a day or two, though it would feel weird.

I realize I'm lucky in that, here, where I live. It's a terrible place to try to find a plus-size suit that's jury-appropriate, but there are plenty of local businesses to support. I think I paid $13.50 for two heads of lettuce today, but they will likely last me two weeks. And I spent a couple of dollars (three?) on garlic and hot peppers, but I like the farmer and he gives me good advice about how best to use my purchases. That's worth money.Laura E.
