Of course, these can't be microwaved, which limits their usefulness for lunches. Personally, we find the smaller Pyrex containers with lids work fine for lunches--but then, my husband carries his lunch to work in a reused grocery bag rather than a lunch box.Amy Livingstonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16362533758291353748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6276531209730408101.post-2501279084521837992011-11-18T09:11:29.654-05:002011-11-18T09:11:29.654-05:00Good distinction! I find that sometimes, in the grey area between stupid plastic and non-stupid plastic, it comes down to personal preference. I like natural fibers in my clothes as much because I like the way they feel on my skin, as for eco reasons.

Here's another stupid plastic: instead of putting leftovers in the fridge in plastic containers, I use a set of vintage Pyrex glass containers with lids I got from a grandma. Love them. The only problem is, they're not so good for putting in lunch boxes to take to work. For that we still use plastic even though I think that particular kind is stupid. Haven't figured out a solution for that yet.Katharinehttp://useful-and-beautiful.tumblr.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6276531209730408101.post-36810633945924344332011-11-17T16:48:21.231-05:002011-11-17T16:48:21.231-05:00At the natural foods store we go to, they will &qu...At the natural foods store we go to, they will "tare" a container for you. You take the empty container to the front, and they weigh it and make a note of the weight on the top. Then, when it's full, they subtract the tare (empty) weight from the total weight to figure out how many pounds you've bought. Try checking with your store to see if you can do the same.Amy Livingstonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16362533758291353748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6276531209730408101.post-9170252400751457892011-11-17T12:27:25.997-05:002011-11-17T12:27:25.997-05:00Great article abot getting rid of those "stup...Great article abot getting rid of those "stupid plastics" I have been storing my beans and grains in glass jars for a long time, but I find that when I go to purchase these items in bulk, I have to put them in a plastic bag to buy them! Any suggestions?
www.zombieapocalypsesurvivalists.comJacLynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14538605023308033568noreply@blogger.com
